It was during a guest visit to a cardiac rehab session where Mary-Margaret looked around and thought to herself, “I want to help people before they get here. I want to help people prevent illness.” She then made the switch from studying business to studying nutrition, and thus began the journey that has led her here today! Over the years Mary-Margaret has accumulated a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BScNutr.) from Acadia University, certification as a Culinary Nutrition Expert (CNE) from the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, and designation as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN), Canada’s leading school for holistic nutrition. Additionally, she is an active member of the CSNN Alumni Association, and also recently completed the Applied Preventive Nutrition (APN) internship through Be Well Nutrition. Her extensive nutrition education has allowed her to piece together a thorough understanding of what whole body health looks like.

Food is the body’s fuel, and thus is vital to its function and success. Just like you make sure to give your car the right gas, you need to give your body the right fuel too. As a nutritional consultant, Mary-Margaret does not believe in dieting, but rather in simply eating whole, real food that nourishes the body. Along with a variety of assessment tools, she uses whole food, basic eating practices, lifestyle modifications, and supplements (if necessary) to bring the body, mind and spirit back into balance for whole body health. Mary-Margaret also helps others understand how different foods affect them individually and how to make the best food choices for them personally.

Following the principles of holistic nutrition, Mary-Margaret believes that there is no cookie cutter model that fits everyone’s needs when it comes to health care. Instead, holistic nutrition acknowledges that we are all biochemically individual and that complete health care comes from addressing these individual needs and making personalized recommendations, rather than trying to fit a generic model to each unique situation.

With a keen eye for detail, and a great ear for listening, Mary-Margaret is committed to getting to the root of her client’s health concerns and supporting them on the road back to health. Ultimately, she aims to educate, inspire and empower others on how to live optimally through whole food by truly THRIVING, not merely just surviving!
